Beth Woody has participated in the "Village of Yesteryear" for 31
years. She makes sculptured paper lamp shades and fabric holiday shades. Her
husband Allen, a member of the "Village of Yesteryear" for 29 years,
wires all the oil lamps and makes some of the lamps. Many are one-of-a-kind. In
addition to being members of the "Village" we are members of the
"Carolina Craftsman," doing several shows each year with that
organization. Beth teaches lampshade making at the Rockingham Junior High School
Fine Arts Festival each spring and the Guilford Technical Community College
several times each year. Beth also offers instructions for groups by special
arrangement. In addition to the lamp shades, Allen and Beth make old-fashioned
lye soap, which they also demonstrate at heritage day celebrations and
reenactments. You may order shades, lamps or soap by contacting her at: ejwoody@att.net
with your request for further information. Show and class schedules are also
available upon request.
